MOU For Action

Neighborhood Housing Services of Staten Island (NHS) has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with EMS to provide services in Staten Island.  

NHS is the (CBO) community based organization that markets (NYSERDA) New York State Research and Development Authority for Staten Island programs.

Staten Island was devastated by Hurricane Sandy and became a priority of New York State to help rebuild.
EMS’s Green University division will be offering (B.P.I.) Building Performance Institute courses to teach energy auditing, weatherization, Solar P.V., Solar Thermal and Lighting retrofitting.

EMS prepares students for (BA) Building Analyst and Envelope BPI tests.
EMS will also be marketing its SBDI, Multi Family, Existing Facility, C & I and Home Performance with Energy Star programs with NHS in Staten Island.

EMS has teamed up with NHS which has received grants to weatherize 60 homes with no cost to the homeowner.  NHS believes they will have enough grant money to weatherize 300 homes in the next year.

It is the goal of Energy Management Solutions to positively affect Staten Island’s local economy by hiring and training local people from Staten Island to complete this work.  Rudy Scott
